The value of the oil cooler in hydraulic systems

In high-pressure hydraulic systems, the hydraulic oil cooler plays an extremely important role: it is a heat exchanger and optimizes the operating temperature of the system. This is more than just overheating protection, as in a car, it is designed to maintain the temperature of the oil and air at which they acquire optimal properties. How to choose the right oil coolers?Oil radiators - what do they protect against?
Coolers are necessary even in systems where pumping units are used to ensure sufficient oil throughput. Unfortunately, a hydraulic system has not yet been invented in which there would be no energy losses - so we must somehow deal with this and ensure the proper operating temperature of the system. The appropriate temperature primarily protects the equipment from damage and rapid wear. If there is no thermal equilibrium in the system, this will lead to the so-called spiral of heat, manifested, among other things:
Reduction of oil viscosity,
leakage,
Loss of lubricating properties of the oil (which means an increase in friction),
Dangerous temperature rise,
And finally, the failure of the hydraulic system.
Hydraulic oil coolers are the solution to this problem.
Which one to choose?
The oil radiator has many names. Depending on the possibilities, we can use two types
of coolers: Water-based oil coolers - work silently and take up little space, but generate additional costs due to the cooling medium used - water. In addition, each cleaning requires turning off the radiator, which stops the system from working.
Air oil radiators - their only disadvantages are noise, which takes up more work space and the need for ventilation, but in return they offer the possibility of direct heat recovery, low cost of installation and use. camhub
